a fun surprise and a nervous email

I was going through some old emails today and stumbled upon a spa package gift certificate that the lady I donated to last year sent me. I don't even remember getting that; I don't know if I even acknowledged it or thanked her for it. I'm sure I did when I got it, but then I must have completely forgotten all about it.

Anyway, so I called up the spa and they said that it's still good, even if it's a year old! So now I get a free facial and massage - talk about an awesome find! It was like finding $100 in a pocket of some old jeans. Or a Christmas gift that I forgot to open. Definitely a good way to make my day!
--------------------

I typed up a draft of the email today that I think I'm going to send my family tomorrow. I hid the news in a lengthy email about something else. I didn't even "announce", I just naturally discussed the logistics of our upcoming Christmas vacation since now we'll be bringing along a 3 month old. And even that was so difficult for me to type up! I was as nervous saying that as I was writing this email. Why is it so hard for me to tell my family? Why am I afraid of their responses? I'm sure they will be happy. In fact, that's almost what I am afraid of. I don't know how to handle other's excitement, when I'm not all that excited myself, but rather humbled and grateful.

This is all so weird. I've gotta get up the nerve to send it tomorrow.
